Giles Cooper Entertainment (GCE) have announced that Audley End House & Gardens in Saffron Walden, the decadent Jacobean mansion house in the gorgeous Essex countryside will host a stellar line-up of live music concerts in summer 2019.
The Heritage Live Concert Series will take place across the weekend of the 12th – 14th July, bringing the best in live music to the most beautiful of outdoor settings at one of England’s finest country houses.
The next show announced for this weekend, taking place on Saturday 13th July, will be an Indie-Rock line-up, headlined by The Hives, and also featuring The Fratellis, and The Sandinistas.
It’s been just over a decade since Swedish band The Hives released their debut album, ‘Barely Legal’, which serves as a perfect introduction to the intoxicating rush of blood to the head that The Hives, and particularly their live show, encompasses.
The band’s 2000 follow-up ‘Veni Vidi Vicious’ catapulted them onto the world stage, on the strength of hits ‘Hate To Say I Told You So’ and ‘Main Offender’, which established them at the forefront of the international Garage Rock revival alongside bands like The Strokes & The White Stripes. Rolling Stone went onto name the album as one of the Top 100 Albums of the Decade, with its UK companion album, ‘Your New Favourite Band’ (a compilation album featuring tracks from their early EPs and first two LPs) cracking the Top 10 and ultimately going Platinum.
Fronted by the enigmatic Howlin’ Pelle Almqvist, The Hives have carried this enormous buzz they’ve obtained throughout the first portion of their careers by collaborating with the likes of Pharrell Williams, garnering them US Top 40 Hits with tracks like ‘Tick Tick Boom’, and several Gold albums worldwide and awards worldwide.
Their unique look of black and white suits and top hats will be in-keeping with the majestic grounds of Audley End, as the band headline what will be a rocking Saturday night.
Also taking to the stage will be The Fratellis, who roared into their second decade as a band with their fifth album ‘In Your Own Sweet Time’ released in 2017 to widespread critical acclaim and commercial success.
Prior to this in 2016, they undertook a 16-date UK tour to celebrate the 10th anniversary of ‘Costello Music’, their incredibly successful sing-a-long debut album, which earned them a BRIT Award for Best British Breakthrough Act, and spent an incredible 83 weeks in the charts, bolstered by hits such as ‘Flathead’, ‘Whistle For The Choir’, and the now ubiquitous anthem ‘Chelsea Dagger’.
Opening the show will be The Sandinistas. Born in the Welsh Valleys, they have become a tour de force live act, having toured relentlessly throughout 2017 and building a strong following. The four-piece count Huw Stephens amongst their fans, and also performed four shows at the prestigious South By South West Festival in Austin, Texas.
